About 300 tertiary educators and professionals coming from mainland
China, Taiwan, US, Macau, Singapore and Malaysia attended the
Conference.
It was the very first conference of its kind held in Hong Kong
bringing scholars from both the mainland and Taiwan together. We
used "three spoken media and two languages" to exchange views and
thoughts in the development of communication and educational technology.

Besides organizing the afore mentioned international conferences,
and conducting more than ten workshops for local members and
professionals, the HKAECT hosted over 600 Chinese scholars and
professionals in a number of occasions, including the recent
collaboration with the China Educational Technology Association, and
Hong Kong Baptist University (November 2006) . The Association made
special arrangements for them to visit several tertiary
institutions, secondary schools, primary schools, and also The Radio
Television Hong Kong (ETV) and a few landmarks in Hong Kong.

The first conference (1990) being: "The Role of Educational
Communications and Educational Technology in Year 2000"
with technology exhibitions. Guest of Honor and Keynote Speakers
were Ms. Rita Fan, the now chairperson of the HKSAR Legislative
Council, Mr. John Nelson President (1990) of Association
for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), Washington
D.C., Dr. Clem Chow, Past President of AECT, and Dr.
Jenny Johnson of Maryland University.

Grant Committee), co-sponsored by Vega Technology Ltd, Cosmo
Vision Technology and Eduserve:

Application in
Chinese Educational Technology Towards the 21st century",
co-organized by The Chinese Association of Educational Technology,
the Shenzhen
Audio-Visual Bureau
and HKAECT. More then twenty members and professional
from Hong Kong
attended the conference in Shenzhen.
We also visited the Shenzhen University, the Shenzhen Radio
& TV University,
the Book City and other
sightseeing spots. Over 100 Chinese scholars and professionals
from the mainland visited
the Hong Kong Baptist University, the Hong Kong University
of Sciencec and Technology
(HKUST), RTHK (ETV) and a few landmarks in Hong Kong.
